Acts of Service for Lent
This half term each class undertakes an act of service for our community. Look out for the flowers planted by Reception in the bike rack holders outside school, Year 2's artwork saying thank you to key workers which they are placing around Clapham and Year 5's Easter Service which will be on the website at the end of term.
Year 1 are sending messages to Trinity Hospice, Year 3 have thanked the school kitchen and the cleaners for all their work during lockdown, Year 4 are writing thank you cards for the local GP surgeries and pharmacies and Year 6 are preparing a Zoom concert for a care home.
As part of their topic 'Caring for our Planet' our Year 6 children researched the effects of air pollution on London. Visit their class page to view their video request to our MP, Florence Eshalomi.
Grace, one of our KS2 pupils, has asked if we can support the foodbank at Holy Trinity Church. She has placed a box in the front office for you to donate if you would like to. She has created a poster showing what items would be useful each week. Below is a description of the scheme:
Holy Trinity Clapham provides an emergency food scheme for those both in the church congregation and local community who need extra groceries, fruit and vegetables, toiletries or cleaning supplies. Many people have found the last year an unexpected struggle, both personally and financially and have used this service as a support since March 2020. As the foodbank grows (now serving over 120 people per week), it is increasingly dependent on donations.
If you or your family need additional support in this way, please visit HTC on Tuesday mornings, 9.30am - 1.30pm.
Year 3 fundraising for The Children's Society
Well done to Year 3 who raised £122 for The Children's Society with their Christingle Service in December and thank you to Year 5 who donated the proceeds from their bake sale to Year 3's fundraising efforts.
