Macaulay Church of England Primary School

I Know Who I Am

Macaulay 375

2023 is a very special year for Macaulay CofE Primary School as it celebrates 375 years since being founded in 1648!

This is a remarkable achievement and the school is planning celebratory events and activities during the year. As this is a wonderful and rare achievement, Macaulay wants to celebrate with the wider community. As well as the present pupils, families and teachers, the school will also be inviting past pupils and teachers and the community of Clapham to celebrate the rich history and positive future of the school.

This anniversary year launches in the Spring with a special collective worship service in school.  Work that the children will be doing over the academic year will be showcased at our special Summer Fair on 1st July.  In the Summer term there will also be a celebration party for the pupils to attend. The year’s celebrations will end in the Autumn term with a Thanksgiving Service.

Macaulay CofE Primary School is a thriving primary school in the heart of Clapham. During its 375-year history it has always had strong links to the church and community, making it the centre of Clapham life for many. Although the school which opened its doors in 1648 may be a very different one to the modern Macaulay of today, the founding principles remain the same: high academic standards with a strong Christian ethos and values that enable the school to nurture its pupils to fulfil their potential.

Happy Anniversary Macaulay!
